CARGO AND PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION INDICATORS ON THE RAILWAYS OF UZBEKISTANISSUES OF ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY OF RAILWAY TRANSPORT

Abstract

This article comprehensively analyzes the historical dynamics of freight and passenger transportation indicators in the railway system of Uzbekistan during the years of independence, their relationship with economic growth processes, and the efficiency indicators of railway transport in the national economy. In the study, based on statistical and comparative-analytical methods, the economic results of cargo turnover, passenger turnover, transit transportation volumes, infrastructure modernization, the level of electrification, and reforms in the logistics system were studied. Also, the influence of railway transport on industrial, agricultural, and foreign trade indicators is revealed, and factors such as reduced transport costs, time savings, and increased efficiency of export-import operations are assessed as criteria for economic efficiency. The article also highlights the role of railway transport in regional integration processes, the level of utilization of transit potential, and the stability of logistics chains. Based on the analysis, it is scientifically substantiated that the growth of freight and passenger transportation indicators is directly related to the modernization of railway transport infrastructure, the construction of new lines, and the improvement of the management system. As a result, it is concluded that railway transport is one of the important drivers of economic growth.
