Abstract

This article analyzes the modern mechanisms of ischemic stroke pathogenesis and morphological changes. Ischemic stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. The article covers the interrelationship of excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis processes, as well as the significance of the penumbra zone. The clinical correlation of morphological changes and modern diagnostic possibilities are reviewed.
